Paint Branch HS Educational Foundation Participating in This Year’s Maryland Charity Campaign

The Paint Branch HS Educational Foundation is proud to announce that they have been accepted to participate in this year’s Maryland Charity Campaign.

The designation code for our organization is 6664. If you know any Maryland State employees, please pass this along and ask them to designate us if they participate in the Campaign.

About the Maryland Charity Campaign (MCC): It is a workplace charitable giving program that offers state employees the opportunity to contribute to charities using the convenience of payroll deduction. Currently nearly 700 charities participate in the campaign.

An Executive Order signed by the Governor dictates how the MCC is to be handled. The campaign is administered by the Office of the Secretary of State. Duties of the Secretary of State’s office include reviewing and approving the applications submitted by charities wishing to receive funds from the MCC; approving the operating budget of the campaign; and monitoring the Operating Agency that is responsible for managing the campaign.

United Way of Central Maryland serves as the Operating Agency. It provides professional staff support in all areas of the campaign; prints collateral material; processes pledge cards; trains the State’s Loaned Executives; and demonstrates accountability in the fiscal management of State employee contributions.

The Governor chairs and Lt. Governor co-chairs the campaign. Each year, the Governor appoints a State cabinet member to serve as Vice Chair. The Vice Chair establishes the campaign structure; establishes campaign goals; monitors campaign progress and troubleshoots when necessary; evaluates campaign methodologies and assists in building the subsequent years’ campaigns. This year’s Vice Chair is in the process of being selected. The Assistant Vice Chair is Gloria G. Lawlah, Secretary of Maryland Department of Aging.
